Darkness

Available on Image changes and on scene jumps.

Swap the next image in at once and animate its darkness from one level to another. Darkness 0 leaves the image untouched and 1 is fully black, so from: 1, to: 0 brings the new image up out of black and from: 0, to: 1 dims it into black.

This is what backs image.darken: darkening an image in place is a transition from its current darkness to the new one. Darkness plays anywhere the other image transitions play.

Usage

import { Darkness } from "narraleaf-react";

// Bring the next image up out of black
scene.jumpTo(next, new Darkness({ from: 1, to: 0, duration: 800 }));

// Dim into black
scene.jumpTo(next, new Darkness({ from: 0, to: 1, duration: 600, easing: "easeIn" }));

// Backgrounds and sprites take the same transition
scene.setBackground("/backgrounds/room-night.webp", new Darkness({ from: 1, to: 0, duration: 1000 }));
image.char("image1.jpg", new Darkness({ from: 0, to: 0.6, duration: 400 }));
